So the Zepp E is a mid-priced smartwatch aimed at people who don’t want the cheapest wearable on the market, but also don’t want to sacrifice a really high-quality wrist companion, and for what it is, it’s pretty good. The Zepp E looks fantastic – it has a subtle two-tone design, an unobtrusive case, and a very minimalist feel that makes it blend in with your outfit. Plus, it’s so lightweight that you can forget you’re wearing it, which is perfect for working out or sleeping. The round Zepp E has a 1.28-inch display with a resolution of 416 x 416 pixels, while the square model has a 1.65-inch display with 348 x 442 pixels. Both versions of the smartwatch feature AMOLED screens that look bright and bold – you can select your own photos for the watch face if you wish, and the screen did justice to the snaps we used for it. The Zepp E consists of the main case and an interchangeable strap. The stainless steel case itself looks pretty minimalist. It has no physical bezel on the front, a display that curves slightly into the case at the edges, and a single button that doesn’t stick out too much on the side. On the back is a heart rate monitor and charging port. The Zepp E runs Zepp’s wearable software. It offers a small selection of lifestyle features, but is spotty in some areas and doesn’t support third-party apps. You can choose from a variety of watch faces – most of which are accessible through the associated Zepp app on your phone, but once you’ve selected them there, you can easily switch between the ones you’ve used on the watch itself. Options also include custom faces, so you can choose your own photos. There are eleven sports modes on the Zepp E, including “Free Workout,” which you’ll probably use if you’re doing an exercise that isn’t one of the other ten. These range from common sports like running outdoors to some niche sports like skiing and trail running. The watch provides several useful metrics depending on the workout, including time, pace, calories burned, average heart rate, cadence, steps, and more, and most of the above data is also available in the app.
