The Galaxy Watch 5 series is the latest iteration of Samsung’s smartwatch family to hit the shelves and comes in two unique versions and six different configurations. The base model Galaxy Watch 5 features a similar aesthetic to the sporty vanilla model from 2021, and the all-new Pro, which replaces the Galaxy Watch 4 Classic, offers an improved and more durable option to take on the trail. Both models are compatible with most modern Android phones, though the feature set is reserved exclusively for Galaxy smartphone users. The watches, which still run on Samsung’s One UI interface and not the Google/Samsung Wear OS 3 group project, may look familiar if you’ve ever used, held or even just glanced at the Galaxy Watch 4 series. Both Galaxy Watch 5s have built-in GPS and Bluetooth, and LTE models are available in all sizes. According to Samsung, all models also house a newly upgraded sensor suite. What’s more, in addition to an electrocardiogram (ECG), optical heart rate sensor and body composition sensor, Samsung has added a body temperature scanner to record your stats at night. As for the Galaxy Watch 5 Pro, it has a titanium case and a more resistant sapphire glass on the screen. It also has a significantly larger battery, with Samsung promising up to 20 hours of battery life in GPS mode, as well as a new charging cable that can take the watch from zero to 45 percent in just 30 minutes. It also comes standard with Samsung’s D-loop strap. What buyers will notice right away is the lack of a physical bezel. For better or worse, the series is ditching this popular feature. The Galaxy Watch 5 Pro comes in a single 45mm case size and two colors: gray titanium and black titanium. The new bands are also available in just two colors – Black and Gray.
