The Galaxy Watch 4 Classic is larger and bulkier than the Galaxy Watch 4 Vanilla. This also gives the wearable the rotating bezel around the display – a feature that surprisingly no other smartwatch manufacturer has implemented yet. The rotating bezel is only available on the higher-end Classic version this time. The 42mm variant is 11.2mm thick and weighs 47 grams, while the 46mm variant is 11mm thick and weighs 52 grams. We used the 46mm variant for our test. The watch is chunky and most people feel the weight when they wear it for the first time. Even for someone used to classic watches, the Galaxy Watch 4 feels heavy. Unlike most smartwatches, the straps can only stick straight out on the sides of the case, resulting in a significant gap between the strap and the wrist on both sides of the case. In the visual department, you get a 1.4-inch display with 450 x 450 pixels of resolution. It is a circular Super AMOLED panel with extremely good brightness and visibility. It is protected by Gorilla Glass DX, which offers protection against scratches. The display is easy to read in all lighting conditions – whether indoors or outdoors. Even in direct sunlight, you don’t have to use your other hand to read what’s on the screen. Plus, the AMOLED display is always on, which is especially handy with an AMOLED display. There are also a number of screen customization options that you can do both on the watch and in the companion app. Finally, the watch is also IP68 water and dust resistant, which means you can take it into water up to five meters deep. The Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 Classic uses the in-house Exynos W920 chipset, which is paired with 1.5GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage. This combination is sufficient to run the watch without problems. During our one-month test period, we did not have to deal with lags or stutters even once while using the wearable. Of the 16 GB of storage, about 7 GB is available for music, apps, and files, and the rest is taken up by the operating system and preloaded apps. Speaking of the operating system, the Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 Classic is a combination of Wear OS and Samsung’s Tizen OS features. The new operating system on the watch is called One UI Watch 3. The software is not too different from Samsung’s wearables of the last generation, but it brings some changes.
