One of the oldest Windows apps is the calculator. It is also one of the simplest and probably the most used apps. Windows Calculator has received a major update with version 10. There are many different calculators available in the menu and a memory feature to save previous calculations now. But all these features are useless if the calculator is missing or just won’t start. It is possible that there is a conflict and that the Microsoft team has released a patch that you have yet to download. First, open Settings by pressing the Windows key + I shortcut on your keyboard and selecting Update & security at the bottom.
Under the Windows Update tab on the left, you can check for and install new updates. Most of the time you can see what the update is about, and maybe an app is mentioned?
Next we will see if there is an update for the Calculator app itself. Open the Windows Store and click the menu icon to select Downloads and updates.
You will see a list of all available updates here. When you see that there is an update for the Calculator app, click Update All button immediately to update all apps.

The Calculator app may not start from the Start menu for some reason. Sometimes it happens and several users have reported that creating desktop shortcut helped. There are a few ways to do this. The easiest way is to search for the Calculator app in Windows Search, right-click and select the Pin to taskbar option. Once the shortcut has been added to the taskbar, you can drag and drop it to the desktop.
If this doesn’t work or if you can’t see the calculator app when you search for it in Windows Search, right-click anywhere on the desktop and select Shortcut under New.
Browse to the location where the Calculator app is installed and click Next in the popupup C: WindowsSystem32calc.exe
Choose a name for the shortcut and click Finish.

Windows 10 comes with a built-in troubleshooting option that can help you find and fix many problems with the operating system and standard Windows apps. Open Settings by pressing Windows key + I on your keyboard and search for ‘troubleshooting app’ without the quotes. Select Search and fix problems with Microsoft Store apps.
Click Apply repairs automatically and click Next. Then follow the on-screen instructions and restart your PC when you are ready to check if the missing calculator has been found again.
