Yes. It’s a strange name. But the output is absolutely worth it. NooG is lightweight software that allows you to efficiently search Google, Bing and Wikipedia. It’s only 1MB of Windows freeware. But it works like a charm. Let’s go to the application. Immediately upon opening the app you will get the search bar. First, I recommend that you turn off the compact view. Click on the hamburger bar on the right and turn off Compact View. This will give you the three search engines at the top of the search bar. You can use this search bar as a normal search bar and enter your searches. Clicking the down arrow will bring you the advanced search option where its beauty lies. You are given several options to choose from. You can select a browser, then the search engine interface, country, language, time period and best of all – the file type.
You can even search for specific strings. In the search engine, your string is replaced with “text” to find an exact phrase. And you can even trim the results by excluding specific strings. You can even save the entire search session with completed fields. Just click on Save button on top of. Enter the file name and it will be saved with a .noo file extension, which you can open from within the app. You also get a pin in the top right corner on each field buttonClicking on it will save the field value. So every time you open the app those defaults will be added in the advanced search. You also get customization options for the app. You can change the background color and make it transparent as desired. Another nice one feature available is History. It keeps track of all search results and shows you all results in the form of a database table.
When you look at the cons, there is no option to minimize the search bar and it always stays at the top of every window. However, you can move it.
