Stock ROM updates come in two formats for all Xiaomi, Mi and Redmi smartphones: Recovery ROM and Fastboot ROM. As the name suggests, Recovery ROMs need to be installed via recovery or via local update method while Fastboot ROMs need to be installed via Fastboot using the MiFlash tool. Every smartphone comes with a pre-installed ROM or user interface. Can be AOSP based without too many extras features, better known as Stock Android, or it could be a custom skin from a specific brand. Install a custom recovery (TWRP recovery)
