The SteelSeries Apex 7 TKL is an excellent gaming keyboard. It has a sturdy build, and the SteelSeries Brown switches are easy to press and provide good tactile feedback. It has individually backlit keys and an included wrist rest and good ergonomics and full RGB lighting. It also has an OLED screen that allows you to change settings without minimizing your game, and has excellent companion software that allows you to reprogram keys, set macros, and adjust lighting settings. As mentioned earlier, this is the TKL variant of the Apex 7. This essentially means that it does not come with a numeric keypad. While the lack of a numeric keypad takes some getting used to, it does have some advantages. First, TKL keyboards tend to occupy less space on the desktop. In addition, it has been shown to improve performance for gamers by reducing the distance between the keyboard and mouse. There is also the obvious benefit of lower keyboard costs. However, there are also benefits to be gained by having a numeric keypad, so considering your preferences, you may prefer the SteelSeries Apex Pro or Apex 7 over the Apex 7 TKL. The SteelSeries Apex 7 TKL has a very high-end appearance. The top plate of the keyboard body is made of aircraft-grade aluminum, making it lightweight and sturdy. The bottom plate is made of hard plastic and has multiple grooves for cable management, which is nice to see. The Apex 7 TKL uses double-shot PBT keycaps, so you won’t have to worry about the legend wearing off too quickly. In the upper right corner of the keyboard is a clickable scroll wheel that acts as a volume control. Scroll up and down to adjust the volume, and click to mute. Below the scroll wheel is a single play and pause button. Additionally, both the scroll wheel and media buttons can be used to control the 128×40 OLED screen to its left. This screen displays the SteelSeries logo by default, but can be customized for more features.
