Share Screen on Google Meet

Unfortunately, Google Meet’s screen sharing is limited to the current screen or open windows in the background. You will see a small toolbar suggesting that screen sharing is currently turned on. You can hide it or use the toolbar to stop sharing. Unfortunately, Google Meet does not provide additional annotation features. You also cannot use the whiteboard feature that Zoom and Microsoft Teams offer. There is a fix for this. Google Meet is a web-based service. You can always use extensions from the Chrome web store to improve Google Meet functionality. One of those extensions is Google Meet Plus.

Use Whiteboard in Google Meet

Google Meet Plus is an indispensable extension for all Google Meet users. The extension makes a lot possible features those are missing from the Google Meet software. We will use the Google Meet Plus extension to add the essentials features such as whiteboard, push-to-talk, emoji reactions, etc. in the software. First, you need to download the Google Meet Plus extension from the Chrome store. You can tap the whiteboard icon to enable the functionality of the software. Don’t forget to start screen sharing first so that participants can take a look at your current screen.

Chat while sharing screen

This is useful if you want to have a chat during screen sharing. Visitors may have doubts about what you are explaining about screen sharing. They can use the chat menu to ask questions. The administrator can take a look at the ongoing conversation in the chat menu and handle the screen sharing process accordingly.

When the screen sharing process is in progress, you can simply tap the chat icon in the top right corner and have a conversation with the team.
