Guide: Transferring Playlist from Spotify to Google Play Music
Google currently has two music streaming services. One has been Google Play Music since, and the other has recently launched YouTube Music, which is part of YouTube Premium. I have tested several music streaming services and also wanted to try Play Music. But to do that, I had to transfer my playlists from Spotify to Google Play Music first. For some reason, Google hasn’t made it easy to import or export Play Music playlists. Some sites claim to have found a solution by using a java applet that you can bookmark in the browser. None of them worked during our tests. I am sharing the only two apps that have worked for us. Let’s start.
1. Stamp
First up is Stamp, a versatile service to transfer playlists from Spotify to Google Play Music, which is available on almost any platform you can be on. It supports all desktop platforms such as Windows, macOS and Linux and mobile OS such as Android and iOS. Download and install from the link below. Now tap Spotify first to give the necessary permissions. That’s the source.
Stamp will now ask you to select your destination to which you want to transfer the playlists. Select Google Play Music here. You will see a disclaimer that playlists in Google Play Music are limited to 1000 songs and it may take a while for the playlists to appear. Well the 1000 limit is too much for me.
At this point you will be asked to provide an ‘App password’.
What is that? That’s that Google is overprotective. Either way, you need to go to Google’s My Account page and look for the App Passwords option in the Security tab.
Enter the app name as Stamp and click Generate to create a unique 16 digit code.
Copy the password. Go back to Stamp and sign in to Google Play Music with this app password instead of your normal Google account password. You can now select your playlists in Spotify that you want to transfer to the Google Play Music app. Choose All or Anything here and tap Start when you’re done.
You will now see the migration screen. It only takes a few moments for the process to complete. The free version of Stamp will only transfer 10 songs from 1 playlist. The pro version will cost you $ 9.99 for one platform and $ 14.99 for all platforms. Buy a stamp
2. Soundiiz
Scroll down the left sidebar a bit to find the Transfer option. Click on it to start the playlist transfer process.
Click here on Spotify to login and give Soundiiz the necessary rights to import and export playlists.
You can now select some or all of the playlists that you have saved in Spotify that you want to transfer to Google Play Music. Click Confirm and proceed when done.
You will now see some additional options such as the ability to change the playlist title and description, remove any duplicate songs, and whether you want to make the newly created playlist private or public in Google Play Music. Click Save Configuration when you are done.
In this step, you can delete all songs from the playlist that you don’t want to transfer to the new playlist. That’s handy feature which stamp is missing. Click Confirm Track List when you are done.
Select Google Music from the list and sign in with your Google account.
At this point you will be asked to enter the passcode. Do not worry. Simply click on Get a passcode and follow the on-screen instructions. Google will automatically generate code for you that you can paste here.
You will now see the transfer process in action.
Keep in mind that unlike other music streaming services, Google Play Music is not available on the free plan for some reason. Either way, Soundiiz will now ask you to upgrade for $ 3 / month. Additional features include the ability to keep playlists in sync, transfer playlists with up up to 200 songs, and transfer other data such as descriptions, favorites, etc. Visit Soundiiz

Two apps have successfully found a way to import playlists to Google Play Music. I feel like this must have turned quite a few music lovers away from the Google platform. People spend months and even years adding to their playlists and not being able to transfer them can be a deal breaker. I’m happy to see that YouTube Music is more flexible in this regard and can easily import / export playlists. The next up: Want to know something interesting tips and tricks for Google Play Music?
