Guide: What are MIUI Quick Apps?
MIUI fast apps are the pre-installed apps on all Xiaomi and Redmi Android phones. Xiaomi is incredibly popular phone brand that has been on the rise in recent years. This one phones are very cheap, powerful and fast. Unfortunately, they have some bloatware, mostly in the form of fast MIUI apps. These apps are system locked, which means they cannot be uninstalled or deleted. Well, they technically can, but it’s not easy to do that. Recently, these apps have gained a lot of traction as Google Play Protect banned their updates. Read on for more details.
More about MIUI Quick Apps
Some readers may be confused by this complex name, so let’s explain what MIUI means. MI stands for Xiaomi and UI stands for the user interface. In terms of design, MIUI is actually quite amazing, really slick and fast. However, it is not ideal. At least, the fast apps aren’t. Some users may not mind the extra bloatware that comes with the fast MIUI apps, but users who want to get rid of it just can’t. As we said, these apps are locked to your device, are difficult to access and even harder to remove. It’s no wonder Google Play has decided to completely remove them.
Why has Google Play Protect banned MIUI Quick Apps?
There is something strange about MIUI fast apps otherwise Google Play Protect wouldn’t have banned them. Apparently, the apps required more than 55 system permissions, which is way too much. These permissions include recording audio, video, recording your calls, installing apps without your knowledge, collecting your IMEI, IMSI and SIM numbers, etc. All of the above are major invasions of privacy that should not be tolerated. If people knew what they were doing phones, would they have allowed it? Certainly not. This is outrageous. If we’re honest, Google had every right to ban this bloatware and spyware. They just protect their users, just like Xiaomi. Up until recently they had a very positive reputation and this could seriously tarnish their name. Hopefully it is all a misunderstanding, as they claim.
Xiaomi’s official statement
Xiaomi could not even remain silent and released an official statement on the situation. They claim this is a mistake due to Google Play Protect’s faulty algorithm. That is their only defense, and they stand by it. Only this answer does not feel right and truthful. It sounds like a no-excuse. But there is no way that such a large company can admit that they are spying on their users. It’s really seedy, and we don’t know what to make of it. The whole situation is scandalous to say the least. Maybe Edward Snowden was right, and we all have tracking equipment in our pockets. Maybe Xiaomi is telling the truth and their app has been falsely banned. We won’t get into politics, but it’s common knowledge right now that Google and China are in the throat. They are not likely to start playing along, and the people who are suffering are the users of their services. China has shut down all foreign services and Google is retaliating with its own bans.
Don’t just delete MIUI apps
It is therefore our advice to leave these MIUI apps. If they’re permanently banned by Google, even better, you don’t have to deal with them. If not, it is not safe for your device to delete some of the most important apps. This can be a mess up the device itself and leaves some permanent damage. Since you are making these changes, you will be responsible if you really damage your Xiaomi device. In others words, you will not get a refund or a new one phone. For that reason, don’t bother with shady third-party apps that claim all of your bloatware phones. These are usually fake and often contain malware. It is best to use your phone be, and don’t give unnecessary permissions to certain apps if you can do something about them.
Clarification
Finally, not all fast MIUI apps are bloatware. Reportedly some were really bad and Google Play Protect blocked them. You shouldn’t bother removing them yourself. They will either be removed in time or their permissions will be revised. Hopefully the latter will happen and Xiaomi will not allow such a scandal to repeat itself. This one phones are still great, and their UI is great. Most likely, the whole situation was a misunderstanding. What do you think? Let us know in the comments below.
